Reading Guide for Mom and Dad:
Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and our life is hidden with Christ in God.
This is a very important revelation to get in this verse. We have a lot of teaching that is telling us that we have to die to self. When you try to die to self, a lot of those teaching start making it works again: now we are trying to die to self.
It's not about trying to die to self. It says in this verse that we are dead.
It is about us, realizing that we are dead.
It's not about our own effort of trying to die to self and give up all our rights. That's not what this verse says, it says: you are dead. And if you are dead then your life is hidden IN Christ. You are IN GOD, and in Christ, you are a completely new man.
We need to realize when Jesus went to the Cross, as He went to the cross it says we became one with Him. Our sin becomes His sin, His righteousness becomes our righteousness, and He dies. He dies on our behalf. We are one with Him so we have died with Him. More than that, we were buried with Him, because we became one with Him, and we have risen with Him to the newness of life.
Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The life we now have is the resurrection life of Christ - that's the life we live!
Romans 6:5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise, you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
We are living the supernatural CHRIST LIFE - we need to realize who we really are in Christ. When we realize this we will change, the world will change!
Ephesians 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
IN CHRIST: We've been crucified, died, buried, risen and we are ascended and seated.
We are seated with Him in Heavenly places. That is our reality! And that is the mindset that we should have.
This place that we are seated in Christ:
Ephesians 1:20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
IN CHRIST: We've been crucified, died, buried, risen and we are ascended and seated.
We are seated with Him in Heavenly places with Christ far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name. We are seated in heavenly places with everything under our feet. That is our reality! That is who we are IN CHRIST.
Conversation Starters with the little ones:
Is there anything that you are afraid of?
What do you do when you feel afraid, lonely, or sad?
What is the truth about this situation?
What makes you happy?
What makes you feel loved?
Who do Mom and Dad say you are? Who does God say you are?
Challenge yourself to only speak the truth over your little ones these two weeks.

Teach them to Rule and Multiply:
Life can get so busy. After the lockdown in 2020, having my little ones with me at home for that time, I've realized the importance of a slower pace. Taking time to enjoy a meal, talking and laughing together as a family. Listening to their hearts. Lately, things seem too busy again. My heart is longing for slower days. Cups of tea underneath the Mulberry tree. Playing with our dog. But in the reality of studying for tests, netball, and football practice, buying groceries, cleaning the kitchen floor(again), and building relationships I've come undone(again).
Time to slow down:
Take your little ones on a special date: to eat their favorite food, to ride your bikes together, walking in nature, or just making tea and talking in the garden. Make some time to be alone with each of them. Listen to their giggles, listen to their fears. Listen to their joys. Take your time. Let them be loud!
Make a list of silly questions to ask them, you may get silly answers!
I learned about Mia's friend who ate five hotdogs one schoolday on our date to the Chinese restaurant, and that her other friend has a "good heart". I marveled at the way Mia explained what a "good heart" is.
Kettle Prayer suggestions:
Lord Jesus, change our hearts and renew our understanding. May the inheritance that You made available for Your Bride, at the Cross, flow in my children's lives. Amen
