Spirit and Word - Teach them to use the S(WORD):
2 Corinthians 6:16
For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people."
The word "Tabernacle" in 2 Corinthians 6:16 is "naos" which comes from the primary word "naio" n Greek, which means "to dwell".
We read that we are the temple of God. If we are the temple of God, we are the dwelling place of His Spirit.
We read in John 1:14 about Jesus Christ: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The word "dwelt" in this verse is "skenoo" which means "to dwell or tabernacle" in Greek.
Jesus was made flesh and tabernacled among us.
The Tabernacle was the meeting place of God. Follow the link to read more about the purpose, design, and building of the Tabernacle.
Exodus 25:22 says: "And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel."
The Temple/Tabernacle was a place where the Priest would operate and God's Glory would fill it.
The High Priest would sprinkle the blood seven times on the Mercy Seat and God would fill the Tabernacle with His presence, His GLORY. God spoke from this place where the blood was sprinkled in the Most Holy. (Leviticus 16:14)
It was also called the "Tabernacle of Meeting" (Numbers 16:43)
The word "meeting" in Numbers 16:43 is "moed" in Hebrew, it means "appointed place, appointed time or meeting" It is an appointed, a due time, to meet with God.
In the New Testament, we see that God says that we are His temple. 2 Cor 6:16 says that God will dwell in us. This means we were made for God to dwell in, to meet with us through His Spirit and to speak to us at an appointed time.
Moses built the Tabernacle according to the pattern that God showed him on the mountain. Exodus 25:40: And look that you make them after their pattern, which was showed you on the mountain.
Everything about the Tabernacle was important to God. He showed Moses a specific pattern for the outside as well as the inside of the Tabernacle. Each detail has significance - more on this later.

Around our dining room table:
Col 2:17 Let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
We read in Colossians 2:17 that there is a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
The context in Colosians 2 is not Legalism but Christ. Some brethren wanted to still legalistically keep the festivals and laws of the Old Testament but we are told that these laws were a shadow. Jesus Christ is the substance. The Law was the shadow but Jesus Christ fulfilled the LAW.
What is a shadow and what is the real thing that makes the shadow?
Look at a leaf in a light/candlelight. See how it throws a shadow? Is the shadow a real thing with substance or is the leaf a real thing with substance? Can you hold the shadow in your hand? Can you smell the shadow? What about the leaf? Can you touch and feel the leaf? Can you smell the leaf?
Jesus Christ is the substance and He tabernacled on earth according to John 1:14, let's read it together.
According to 2 Cor 6:16, what are we?
If we are the Tabernacle or Temple of God what does that mean?
What was the Tabernacle made for?
What does it mean if we read that God's Glory filled the Temple? (Read Exodus 40:34)
Do some shadow art, this is a really fun way to experience some concepts that we discussed. Put a toy or a plant on a piece of paper. Make sure to have a light source behind the object. Let them outline the object on a piece of paper with a pencil. Have fun coloring in the outline. We used watercolor and ink for added fun.

Kettle prayer:
We read in Colosians 3:1 " If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."
We need to pray according to Ef 1:15 for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to open our eyes of understanding. May we seek those things which are above, through the Spirit of revelation.
Pray these 2 scriptures over your children daily. I wrote them down on our blackboard in our passage where I see it often.
Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ! You are seated at the right hand of God. Above all powers and principalities. Thank you Jesus Christ for giving us Your Spirit of revelation and wisdom. Open our eyes of understanding, may our mind be set on things above, not on things on the earth.
