How to use the Royal Priesthood Lesson plans

If we want our children to be grounded in the Truth. To have their identity firmly established in Jesus, they need to know what God says about them. We need to guide our children into listening to God's Voice rather than listening to the multitude of Voices bombarding them from all sides. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit guide me into the way, to lead me on this journey of being their Mom. As I'm walking with these two little ones, may they come to know the One who is walking with us every step of the way, and by knowing Him, my prayer is that they will come to know their true worth.

Being washed by the Word of God:

This is a note to Mom and Dad. This section is about my thought process behind and why I chose the theme of the month. It is my prayer that the Father will grant us the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding. May our spiritual eyes be opened to who HE IS. May we come to know what the HOPE OF OUR CALLING is IN CHRIST JESUS.

Spirit and Word - Teach them to use the S(WORD):

This section contains a list of Bible Verses explaining the monthly theme - you are welcome to explore these with your children.

Read one scripture/verse per day, any time during your daily routine that works best for your family. Feel free to add scripture from your studies to the list! It takes us about four weeks to work through these verses.

Give your older children the responsibility of reading the scriptures if they feel up to it.

These times shouldn't feel like another school history lesson. Feel free to make a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Get out some snacks and have fun with them!

On a side note: I know there are days when homework, tired little hearts and big emotions get overwhelmingly real. On these days I find it is better for all of us, to slow down and listen to their hearts. Some days we tend to connect more in other ways. These are times of grace and love. In these moments I ask the Holy Spirit to lead me into His peace and into seeing my children the way He sees them: perfected through the work of Jesus on the Cross. I am still growing in my understanding of walking in the Spirit when I feel tired and stressed. But I know that when I choose to heed the Voice of the Spirit rather than my flesh, these times become pockets of mercy and rest for all of us. Allow yourself the grace to sometimes slow down, take a step back, and be with your precious little ones. Hug them a little tighter and take them to bed a little earlier. Have that late-night cup of tea and a well-deserved moment to yourself. You are creating a sanctuary Mama, and this is so very precious in His sight.

Around the dining room table:

This is not a Bible study but rather an informal conversation centered around a specific Scripture or Bible concept.

We read one scripture from the list above in the S(WORD) section.

I know that the seeds we plant will grow in the good soil of their hearts.

Conversation starters:

Ask a few questions regarding the theme you are exploring. Make time to chat! Always be a step ahead and guide them toward the conclusion you want to achieve. Always make time for their questions. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead them into His Truth.

Getting to the Core:

(For 10-12-year-olds) Teaching him to use the Blue Letter Bible app. Divan enjoys using the BLB app on his phone to search for specific meanings of words that we read during our time together.

  1. I usually highlight two or three words to search out. He writes the original meaning of the word on the template below.

  2. He then uses the app to identify other places in scripture where the specific word is used and we read them together during the next few weeks. This teaches us that scripture interprets scripture! He also thinks he is getting additional screen time which is a huge incentive.

Please feel free to print out the pdf :"getting to the core"

God's alphabet:

(For 7-9-year-olds) Teaching her the language of the Spirit:

Mia is very creative and she has the job of coloring/decorating our Visual aids for our specific theme. Her artwork then goes against the wall. (I usually move them to our bathroom when we start with the next theme in our RP series)

Feel free to print out the Visual Aid

Make it Fun:

I try to include a few activities based on the monthly theme. Feel free to choose your own or try a few on the list! During these, we will refer to our Bible scriptures or discuss ideas that we have.

Kettle Prayer suggestions:

I've added "Kettle Prayer suggestions" to my posts. These are prayers offered while I wait for my kettle to boil. Usually, I cut out a visual reminder regarding the Theme for the week and just stick this on my kettle with a little prestick. This reminds me that while I'm waiting for my tea, I can speak to Holy Spirit about my little ones. I try and speak life into their lives for a minute each day. Words that press into the Will of God, regarding His Vision for them.

Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.

Equipping a Royal Priesthood, a generation to rule and multiply.
