Lesson 22: It is Finished! Stand - Sat down

Writer: AnkiaAnkia

Scripture Reference:

Hebrews 10:11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool

* note: the content of the following teaching is not my own, it is taken from excellent teaching by Gavin Porter from a series called God's Vision God's Mission. You can access the full teaching on YouTube by following this link: It is finished!

Reading Guide for Mom and Dad:

This is now back talking about the LAW. It says that these priests when they were offering in the tabernacle, had to STAND. They had to offer these sacrifices continually. I think the reason they had to stand was that their work was never finished. If you have a look at the tabernacle there were only seven furnishings: the brazen altar, the bronze laver, the table of showbread, the candlestick, the altar of incense, and the mercy seat. But there are no chairs for the priest to sit on. The priest has to stand all the time.

ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOR EVER and then He SAT DOWN. So if Jesus sat down, where did He sit down? He sat down at the right hand of God. If you have a look at the tabernacle there's only one place He could sit - if He went into the heavenly tabernacle: the mercy seat. So Jesus sat down on the Mercy seat.

Romans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God has passed over the sins that were previously committed,

The word Propitiation means: The mercy seat

In the Amplified Bible this verse reads: Whom God put forward(before the eyes of all) as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood.

Jesus IS the Mercy seat. His blood is not just sprinkled on the mercy seat. His blood won't be washed off the Mercy seat. He IS the Mercyseat forever and ever.

We can now come through the veil, which is the FLESH, into the Holy of Holies where He is. Seated at the right hand of God on the Mercy seat. The veil has been opened up. The entrance is opened up, we have access to this Grace.

Conversation Starters with the little ones:

Watch this YouTube 4 minute video with your little ones: The Tabernacle of Moses

It shows how the tabernacle looked and it shows the furnishings inside it.

Ask them if they see any chairs or places where the priest could sit down.

How does the mercy seat look and where is it? It is in the Holy of Holies.

Where did God's presence dwell? In the Holy of Holies

Teach them to Rule and Multiply:

We baked our own Showbread(our own recipe for pitabread that my friend shared with me)

Utami's bread

300g plain full fat greek jogurt

300g cake flower

1 tsp baking powder, pinch of salt

Mix the above ingredients into dough

Roll out in small portions and fry in a hot pan

Kettle Prayer Suggestion:

Holy Spirit, may my children grow up in Your presence. The veil is opened up, for this, I honor You, my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
