Reading Guide for Mom and Dad:

Hebrews 10: 5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, 'Behold, I have come - In the volume of the book it is written of Me - To do Your will, O God.'" Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the law), then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God" He takes away the first that He may establish the second.

This is the Word speaking. We know that when the Word received a body He became flesh: Jesus Christ.

John 1: 1 In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 2: 14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.

The Word became flesh and blood and He received a body. This is the most important truth of the gospel: That God became Man - flesh. From the moment that Jesus was conceived, He was destined for the Cross. That's the reason the Word became flesh: to be the perfect Sacrifice.

Ephesians 1:9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself

The Word became flesh so that The Word can do God's Will. When Jesus became flesh He came to do God's Will. He came to fulfill God's Will at the Cross. God's Will was hidden before, fulfilled at the Cross, and revealed after the Cross.

Conversation Starters with the little ones:

We had a look at different images of Scrolls. You are welcome to follow this link for examples of Scrolls

Let's look at John 1:1, in the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God?

We know that Jesus is the WORD that became flesh

Does it say that Jesus was there since the beginning? Yes

Does it say that Jesus is God? Yes

Lord Jesus, You are the Word that became flesh! Fill my children's minds with Your truth. May they reveal your Vision to the world, all to Your Glory! Amen
